AIU Team was at the Semi-Final in the National Debate Tournament!
On October 8 and 9, the English-Speaking Union of Japan held its 19th
University Debating Competition at the National Olympic Memorial Youth
Center in Shibuya, Tokyo, where the AIU team (Ryuji Okubo and Miho
Nishimura) reached the semi final match. Their further advance was blocked
by the University of Tokyo team, but they should be proud of the achievement which made the AIU Debate Club known nationwide.
The motion at the quarter final match (where the AIU team defeated the Keio team) was whether “priests should report the confessions of serious crimes to the police”
and the motion at the semi final match (where the AIU team was defeated by
the University of Tokyo team) was whether to “forbid political parties from
disallowing the free votes of their members.”
Ryuji and Miho, good job!
