Confirmation of COVID-19 Infections on Campus (June 26, 2021)

It has been discovered that 5 AIU students have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to follow-up surveys by AIU and by the Akita City Public Health Center, it is highly likely that the infections resulted from an off-campus dance event in which the infected students participated.

AIU has raised its Business Continuity Plan (BCP) level to the highest level, level 5, and we expect all students, faculty and staff members to take the greatest possible precautions against further spread of infections on campus in accordance with the “Akita International University COVID-19 Infection Risk Reduction Guidelines (Second Edition)“. We will also continue to coordinate with the Public Health Center to take further measures as appropriate.
We pray for the swiftest possible recovery for the infected students and ask all of your understanding and cooperation in the protection of the human rights and personal information of the infected students and their families.
