Arriving on Campus

Travel Arrangements

Please make your own international and domestic flight reservations. You need to get to Akita Airport or JR Akita Station on your own. AIU will provide pickup service, free of charge, from Akita Airport or JR Akita Station to the AIU campus only at the scheduled times on check-in days. Pick-up Arrangement

AIU will provide pickup service, free of charge, from Akita Airport (Arrival Gate), JR Akita Station (at the Bus Station in front of the East Exit), or Hotel Plaza Crypton (at the lobby). You will be brought to the AIU campus ONLY at the scheduled times on check-in days. Admitted students are requested to submit an Arrival Form on the Online Application System. If you plan to arrive in Akita earlier or later than the designated hours and dates, you will have to get to the campus on your own, using taxi, train, and/or bus.

Taxi

If you take a taxi from Akita Airport to AIU campus, it takes about 10 minutes and costs about JPY 1,600. If you take a taxi from JR Akita Station to AIU campus, it takes about 30 minutes and costs about JPY 7,500.

Train from JR Akita Station to AIU

If you do not use a taxi, you can travel by train as far as JR Wada Station, which is 10-15 minutes by bus from the campus. The most up-to-date schedule is available from here.

Bus Service

A local bus company provides services for two routes between the campus and JR Wada Station and the nearest shopping center, AEON. The bus schedule varies depending on the day of the week and whether class is in session at AIU.

Hotel in Akita
