Akita’s Sakigake Newspaper published an article on “Akita’s Folk Performing Archives Project”, which has produced an online database of traditional folk performing arts from all throughout Akita Prefecture. The Agency for Cultural Affairs selected CRESI to create and maintain this database over a period of 3 years as part of its Revitalization of Traditional Regional Cultures Project. In this, our third and final year, CRESI plans to conduct interviews, photography and filming in Gojome, Katagami, Ikawa, Hachirogata, Daisen, Senboku, Misato, Yokote, Yuzawa and Higashinaruse. 2-minute video digests, along with explanatory commentary, dates, times and places where the performances were held will be posted on the website, Akita’s Performing Arts Archives.
