We attended a meeting at San Francisco State University.

The faculty members of the University visited California to have a conference with instructors at San Francisco State University.

Between August 15th-23rd, Dr. Yoshitaka Kumagai, Professor (Dean of International Collaboration), and Dr. Masahiko Agata, Visiting Professor, visited San Francisco State University (SFSU), met with Dr. Jan Ahrens, Lecturer, and Dr. Yenbo Wu, Associate Vice President, Division of International Education, to discuss the PBL course, which the two universities will jointly offer from June to August in the next academic year.

Discussion on the Project-based Learning (PBL) course

In this PBL course, the subject of which will be tourism business, the students will learn about the differences in business culture between Japan and the U.S. as well as about various marketing and branding strategies, based on which the tourism business strategies that are adopted mainly in Akita will be examined. While in San Francisco, the professors also visited several candidate sites for the field study in the city of San Francisco. The faculty members from both universities are going to further examine the course content so that it will be ready by the summer of 2013.
