We had the Second AIU Hill Climb Competition!

Tsubakidai Hill Road, which connects the AIU campus to the outside world, is 170 meters in length and has a 15 meter rise. On Saturday, September 26th, the 2nd AIU Hill Climb Competition was held to see who could do the most ups and downs in 15 minutes.

In beautiful weather, perfect for cycling, 14 participants, men and women, young and not so young, enjoyed the competition with a lot of sweat on their foreheads.

Going around the red cones placed at the top and bottom of the hill road, the participants received one rubber band for completing each trip. At the end of 15 minutes, they counted the number of rubber bands.

Here are the results.

Free Division Winner Yoji Natori 12trips
Senior Division (over 30 years old) Winner Yoji Natori 12trips
Women’s Division Winner Nodoka Kato 8trips

Message from Prof. Tetsuya Toyoda, organizer of the competition

Prof. Natori won both the Free Division and the Senior Division. The great speed with which he came up the hill made me sweat just watching his run. Ms. Nodoka Kato, the winner of the Women’s Division, made 8 trips on a gearless bicycle. Amazing!
