Academic Achievement Center (AAC)

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) supports undergraduate students’ studies through peer- tutoring. Peer tutors offer tailored guidance through active listening and the facilitation of tutee’s self-efficacy. Tutors must also demonstrate mastery in the subject area that they are supporting. The peer tutoring service is offered to AIU undergraduate students at no charge.

About our support

Peer Support

At the AAC, tutees are provided individualized guidance by tutors who have received extensive training from the AAC faculty coordinator. There are approximately 20 tutors, including international students, at both the graduate and undergraduate level. The peer tutoring method helps tutees clarify their areas of learning difficulty while also encouraging them to achieve their goals.

Using the AAC

AAC tutees can receive individual sessions of up to 60 minutes. Students can also use the abundant learning materials available in the LDIC for both tutoring sessions and independent study. Several times a semester, AAC tutors will also hold weekend “boot camps” that provide intensive peer tutoring in areas of high demand.

Hours of Availability

Undergraduate students interested in using the AAC should consult the ALC ATOMS page for specific hours of operation. The center is closed on Saturdays and national holidays, as well as during August, winter break and spring break.
