Engaging AI Otherwise: Conversations and Practices to Imagine a Participatory AI

The Human & AI Center, in collaboration with Prof. Kevin Hockmuth, is delighted to invite you to a workshop co-organized with ifa – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen on ”Engaging AI Otherwise: Conversations and Practices to Imagine a Participatory AI.” We are excited to invite two young researchers for this workshop, Miro Leon Bucher (https://art.miroleon.de), from RWTH Aachen University, Academic and Research Department for Artistic Methods, Germany, and Seoyoung Choi, a political scientist from Kangwon National University, South Korea.

This workshop combines feminist and decolonial AI critique with hands-on experimentation with open-source image-generation models. Over three days, participants learn to identify biases in AI systems and practice “critical data injection”—deliberately reshaping training data through LoRA models to challenge dominant visual narratives and reclaim agency over how AI represents the world.

There are no prerequisites for the workshop – anyone interested in AI and democracy is welcome! Please see the detailed program below.
