Special Programs: Summer Program
Program Fee
The Program Fee includes room & board (3 meals per day at AIU), bedding, room cleaning, and field trips. In addition to the Program Fee, students must pay for travel expenses from their point of origin to Akita, lunch during the bus trip (one trip only), personal and daily expenses and insurance.

**Fee-Paying Students: Students who are nominated from partner institutions as Fee-paying Students (outside of the tuition-waiver exchange), or students from non-partner institutions. These students will be charged the Tuition and Processing Fee.
Payment Method and Policy
Payment by the due date confirms the student’s participation in the Summer Program. Late or non-payment will result in cancellation of admission.
Successful Applicants will receive an invoice through Flywire. Please follow the instructions on the invoice to complete the payment.
If Flywire service is not available in the student’s country of residence, students must contact AIU for guidance on how to make the payment by a different method. In either case, students are required to complete the payment by April 10.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Students who wish to withdraw from the program must have their study abroad coordinator contact AIU by email no later than 11:59 p.m. JST on May 15.
Refund Policy
▶ Cancellation Before Payment Submission:
Students who cancel participation in the program but who have not yet submitted their payment will not be invoiced and any issued invoices will be cancelled.
▶ Cancellation Before 11:59 p.m. JST on May 15:
Cancellation fee of 10% will be applied.
Refund amount (Exchange Students): 234,000 JPY (Cancellation Fee: 26,000 JPY)
Refund amount (Fee-Paying Students): 351,000 JPY (Cancellation Fee: 39,000 JPY)
▶ Cancellation After 0:00 a.m. JST on May 16:
A cancellation fee of 50% will be applied.
Refund amount (Exchange Students): 130,000 JPY (Cancellation Fee: 130,000 JPY)
Refund amount (Fee-Paying Students): 195,000 JPY (Cancellation Fee: 195,000 JPY)
▶ Cancellation After the Program Begins (Including after students have arrived at AIU):
Refunds will not be provided under any circumstance.
All bank fees related to the refund will be borne by the beneficiary, so the amount you receive may be less than what is stated above.
