Student Voice: Moments to remember – Michael WOLFE, Mississippi State University, U.S.A.

Michael WOLFE from Mississippi State University, U.S.A., is participating in our exchange program starting in the Fall 2022 semester. We would like to introduce his experience at AIU.

Weekend at Ginzan Onsen

When I first came to AIU I was a bit nervous since I could hardly speak Japanese and it was so different from home. On top of this, I had never left the United States before, or even gone outside my region so this was quite the jump for me. Very soon after arriving at AIU I was able to meet amazing new friends and now I could not imagine my life without them. If it were not for AIU I would have never met these people who I am happy to call my friends. AIU creates such a strong feeling of community due to the size of the campus, making AIU really feel like a family as opposed to the massive schools that I’m used to at home. Here you are likely to remember people’s faces which is something I can’t say is a guarantee at larger schools in the United States. AIU also always has something going on, whether it be the activities held by the many clubs that you can engage with or events such as AIU festival, which was an amazing experience. Akita is such a beautiful place to be especially if you love nature. One of my favorite locations in Akita is Tazawa Lake, which is the deepest lake in all of Japan. If you want to experience Japan away from the noise of the cities, then AIU is the place to be.

I’m very thankful to AIU for giving me the adventure of a lifetime. It is without a doubt the single greatest decision I have ever made and will cherish the moments had here forever.
