Language Development and Intercultural Studies Center (LDIC)

The LDIC is a facility that supports autonomous study of foreign languages, interculturalism, and communication. The Center is equipped with a wide variety of teaching materials and facilities for English and many other foreign languages, and also supports exchange with international students through the Foreign Language Conversation Partner Program and other programs.

Learning Materials

We have a wide variety of study materials in more than 40 languages*, mainly English, including DVDs, mysteries and other novels, travel guidebooks, and books for language examinations. Students can choose and study materials that match their level and objectives.

Collection of English versions of Japanese manga is also available.

Supporting Autonomous Learning of Foreign Languages

The LDIC offers a wide range of materials for use by students enrolled in the English for Academic Purposes Program (EAP) and practical foreign language courses, as well as by students who wish to acquire a foreign language for various purposes, such as studying abroad. Xreading, an English reading resource, and Rosetta Stone®, a conversation tool for learning 24 languages, are available online from anywhere.

Foreign Language Conversation Support

Through the Foreign Language Conversation Partner Program, you can deepen your understanding of each other’s culture while enjoying conversations in a variety of languages* with international students from around the world.

*English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Russian, etc.

Workshop/Events

Each semester, workshops by guest speakers and faculty members, as well as student-led learning activities, are held for students to acquire a high level of English language proficiency.
