Arriving on Campus

Arrival Date and Time

All students must arrive on campus during the designated date and times (no exceptions) in order to be able to complete necessary paperwork related to residence registration,mandatory insurances, etc. that will need to be done on the date of arrival.

If students cannot find a flight that arrives in Akita during that time, they must arrive the night before and come to campus during the designated date and time on the following day. The designated date and times of arrival will be informed to accepted students at the time of the application results announcement.

Travel Arrangements to Akita

Please make your own international and domestic flight reservations. You need to get to Akita Airport or Akita Train Station (JR Akita Station) on your own. AIU will provide pickup service, free of charge, from Akita Airport (Arrival Gate) or Akita Train Station (at the Bus Station in front of the East Exit) to the AIU campus, but only at the scheduled times on the check-in day. Free Pick-up Bus Information

As public transportation is very limited in Akita, we ask that you use AIU’s free pick-up bus service from Akita Airport, or Akita Train Station to travel to campus. Admitted students are required to submit an Arrival Form to the Online Application Portal.

Information regarding the pick-up bus schedule for Fall 2025 will be posted here in early July.
