Visa Information

The visa requirements to enter Japan differ by nationality, place of residence, purpose of visit, and the length of intended period of stay. Students must check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan website (link below) to see if they are required to obtain a visa: Exemption of Visa (Short-Term Stay) | Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan

Students whose countries do NOT have a visa exemption agreement with Japan or whose visa-waiver does not cover the entire duration of the program (minimum 90-day visa waiver) need to obtain a visa.

Students who have any questions about visas must contact the nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate in their country of nationality or country of residence.

Please note that while AIU will provide supporting documents to any students who require them, it is the student’s sole responsibility to determine what documents are required for their individual cases and to apply for and obtain their visa.
